Chapter 5: He can hear my heart beat

BLISSFUL EUPHORIA

After having a small clash with his dad, Jay headed back home feeling upset. As he lay on his bed, thoughts of the girl who had been following him lingered in his mind. Although he rarely visited the bank, Jay's curiosity about the girl led him back there, hoping she would follow him again. Unfortunately, Aria was too busy with her own work to notice him. Jay waited until evening for a couple more days before giving up on waiting for her.

One fine Sunday, Aria was spending the day alone outside. She felt tired so, she bought a cool drink and stood on a bridge to refresh herself. Jay, who loved walking on the streets, ended up on the same bridge. At first, he walked past her, but then remembered her hair and turned back.

Aria didn't notice Jay, as she sipped her drink and watched ducks in the water channel. Jay was excited and stood beside her, leaning his back against the bridge. She was flabbergasted and stood there in silence, not knowing what to say or why she felt euphoric when she was beside him.

He chuckled and asked, "Are you following me?"

With a sarcastic smile, she replied, "Why would I?"

He responded, "I don't know, you have a history of following me. So, I was wondering if you had anything to talk to me about."

She turned her face towards the water and replied to him " I didn't mean to follow you, I didn't know why I did that. Anyway no need to worry because I won't follow you or I don't have anything to tell you"

She tried to leave the place as her sentence is completed but Jay stood in front of her and surrounded her by putting his hands on bridge.

For a moment, they simply stood there, inches apart, their eyes locked in a deep gaze. Aria felt her heart rate quicken as she took in the stranger's rugged features, his strong jawline, and chiseled cheekbones. She thought he might hear her heartbeat because she felt a sudden rush of heat as she realized how close they were standing, their bodies almost touching. For a moment, she felt a wild impulse to lean in and kiss him, to forget everything else in the world.

Her fragrance, her blue eyes, and the expression on her face were like a beacon of hope in a world that often felt cold and harsh. Jay wanted to reach out and touch her, to feel the softness of her skin and the warmth of her embrace. He was puzzled and didn't know what to do or say.

Aria pushed him back gently and Jay understood that she was feeling uncomfortable so he stepped back.

With soft concern, Jay said "I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. Just thought of introducing myself to you before you leave"
